Top Wii games for 2011

We all love lists. We make lists, read lists, analyze lists and especially love them when they related to our favorite pastime, video games. Well we here at gameonnintendo will be highlighting some amazing titles that are headed to Nintendo’s 5th home console in 2011 so be sure to check back every day for a new title added. If you feel that a certain game should be highlighted, shoot us an email and let us know!

First up: Mario Sports Mix

Mario and Co. are assembling faster than Tom Brady’s hair is growing and I couldn’t be more excited. The game features a promising sports mix and introduces games like dodgeball, hockey and basketball in this promising looking title that is headed our way in 2011.

I am really hoping that this title plays great as my daughter and I are looking for another sports title to play. We are in need of something along the lines of a Wii Sports type title and this one may fit the bill. Mario Sports Mix can help Nintendo ring in the new year with its inevitable release and will be closely monitored by gameonnintendo. This game was already released in Japan but is headed Stateside and Europe in January.

If you plan on getting this game, let us know in the comment section. I am cautiously optimistic about this one guys…

Nintendo 3DS Releasing on March 18th in UK

Online retailer GameGears has started pre-orders for the Nintendo 3DS ahead of the 3DS press event on January 19th.

The online retailer is charging £194.99 for the device which it says will be available for purchase in three different colours and will be released on March 18th 2011.

I am calling this one a false rumor but I guess we will know in the very near future now won’t we?? I am not saying that this is out of the realm of reality but I am just not too sure if this rumor will pan out to be true. Always fun to speculate though right? Keep it here as we will have a TON of coverage for the Nintendo conference this January.

Square Enix Files Trademark in Europe for Final Fantasy Type-0

Square Enix filed a trademark yesterday for “Final Fantasy Type-0” with the OHIM, the trademark office for the European Union. The filing included a logo as seen above and has been making its rounds around the internet today. While the company has been openly discussing a number of projects bearing the Final Fantasy name in recent months, the phrase “type-0” was not mentioned in English or in Japanese.

Interesting to say the least. As usual, we will be following this one closely.

Nintendo 3DS: Nintendo States Children Should Turn Off 3D Effects On Nintendo 3DS

Vision in children under six is still in a developmental stage and the delivery of 3D images “has a potential impact on the growth of children’s eyes.”

Now I am wondering how many parents will actually adhere to this warning… Only time will tell my young Jedi’s…

Being a father myself, I don’t think that I will be letting my little ones check out the 3D portion of the handheld just because of this issued warning. We will see though.

What are your thoughts?

Nintendo DS: Ghost Trick Phantom Detective Preview

January is already proving to be a promising release month for Nintendo DS owners everywhere and with the upcoming release of Capcom’s Ghost Trick Phantom Detective, it looks as though gamers will be able to spend their holiday money on some gaming goodness come January.

In Ghost Trick Phantom Detective, you are transported into the spirit world of Sissel, a murder victim who has lost his memory and returned as a ghost to solve the mystery of his suspicious demise. As Sissel’s ghost, it’s up to the you to possess and manipulate items found in the real world to take his time and have fun in solving the captivating puzzles he encounters.

Using the stylus, you can manipulate inanimate objects in order to protect innocent victims and alter their fate. In order to save their lives, you will have many routes to choose from to scare off the victims’ assassins – some more obvious than others. It’s up to you to use strategy in order to choose the best path and solve the crime, but be warned that Sissel only has until dawn before he has to leave the supernatural world for good. As Sissel progresses through the game, the mystery of his own death will be revealed to him over time. Will you discover the truth before his time runs out?

Sounds interesting no?? In my opinion, this game has all the right markings to be something great and is a true “must have” for an adventure fan out there. The story seems to be the star of this unique game and with the bevy of DS specific control mechanics, it does looks pretty sweet.

In case this promising title slipped under your gaming radar (don’t worry, we forgive you) check out a video below and let us know if you plan on buying the title! I must say, this one has definitely piqued my interest…

Ghost Trick Release dates:

Nintendo 3DS: Updated Preorder information

Hey guys, I just want to write a quick update on the Nintendo 3DS preorder. I just got back from Gamestop and when I went to reserve the system, the clerk had no idea they were taking the reserve and I needed to give him the “magic sku” number. As of today, December 29th, you can still reserve the system at your local Gamestop but I am certain that they will be shutting it down soon.

If you haven’t reserved the system yet but plan on it, here is the sku for the reserve: 020132.  Like I said if you want to reserve the system, I’d suggest you do so now as they will probably be shutting off the Sku soon (I used to work there).

Has anyone else pre-ordered the system?  How was your experience?
