If I Ran Sony, This is How E3 2012 Would Go Down

E3 2012 is now just 2 weeks away and Sony appears to already be showing its E3 hand before the big show. Titles like PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, God of War IV, The Last of Us and LittleBigPlanet Kart Racing have already been announced and has many left wondering what Sony will show at this years conference.

Concluding my “If I ran…” set of stories, Here is how E3 2012 would go down if I ran Sony:

The second the conference begins, the lights would turn completely dark and an all new trailer starring the incredible-looking “The Last of Us” would hit the screens. The trailer would be a nice, extended video and feature some new environments and showcase the already impressive title from Naughty Dog. In my opinion Sony’s next big success story will come with this PS3 exclusive and The Last of Us should be the first thing attendees see.

Following the jaw dropping trailer would be the first presenter/speaker. They no doubt will discuss their “10 year PS3 plan” and state that the future is now. The PS3 already has an impressive blu-ray movie player built inside and there would be no need for Sony to “rush to the next generation” (especially with titles like The Last of Us and God of War IV looking so spectacular). The presenter would talk Sony exclusive titles and another video montage would follow.

The next video montage would consist of the recently announced LittleBigPlanet Kart Racing, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, Ratchet HD Collection and an unannounced project Sony has been secretly working on (although it seems Sony is already showing their hand prior to this show).

After that another presenter would come on stage and speak about the already released Sony exclusives (such as Starhawk etc) and relay the message that “these types of games can only be found on a Sony machine”….. From there the presenter would praise 3rd parties and their efforts with the system and another video would hit. This video would contain a ton of 3rd party games headed to the PS3 and explain why the PS3 is the place to be for great 3rd party content.

Finally the PS Vita would be discussed along with a price cut for the graphically impressive system (although I do not believe this would happen, this is “What I would do if I ran Sony” and the handheld is struggling out of the gate). Early adaptors would get a set amount of points to download whatever games/videos they desire, similar to what Nintendo did with the 3DS. Along with this new price cut a number of different colors would also be announced and would be headed to store shelves in the very near future.

Another video montage would hit and would only star Sony’s newest handheld. There would be many surprises during the video and would make gamers finally pleased with the handheld (I LOVE my PS Vita just as a side note). The video would also showcase a number of titles that would extend the PS3 connectivity and would be a major focus moving forward.

Another presenter would take center stage and recap everything we have heard…. From there the lights would go dark again and 3 video game trailers would be shown….

The first one would be for an all new PS Vita title. The game would be a system seller and would be released later this year…

The next trailer would be a crazy video of the already announced God of War IV. The video would showcase the multiplayer and display some of the most amazing graphics that we have seen on PS3 and any other system to date.

Concluding the show would be an all new trailer for the often delayed Last Guardian. The trailer would remind gamers that this game still is headed to PS3 and would conclude with an exact release date for the highly anticipated game.

End of show.

As always, thanks to everyone for reading and let me know what you guys think. Don’t forget to give us a follow on twitter or find us on Facebook.

Game On.

I was reading the article and thought it was great, but felt really really epic when you ended it with “Game on”.

    Game on indeed. :D

Considering Sony is planning to show 20 new gaming experiences, I’m glad you’re not running the show.

I am sorry, what you have outlined is the least I would expect of Sony…

you can have a much better conference then this.

1st of all, this is the best you could come up with? 2nd at least get the title of the games you would show right, it’s God of War:Ascension and Little Big Planet:Karting

  • Bilbo  says:

They should start with a picture of the Vita with the giant letters spelling out “We’re Sorry!”

We’re sorry we’re such greedy shmucks for foisting yet another crappy proprietary memory card that’s useless in every other electronic device in the world, and we’re sorry for charging 5x what all other memory card cost.

We thought y’all would bend over and take it, but we were wrong. So today we are introducing a new memory card adapter that lets all Vita’s use the already established standard, MicroSDHC memory cards which you can buy for 1/10th the price of our slow crappy ones.

We’re also proud to offer a new ambassador program for all of you who were royally screwed by buying one of our turd cards. You get 10 free PS1 games!

And finally, we wish to save the Vita and reduced its price to only $179!

    Game on.

if i ran sony this is how it would go down…
show amazing gameplay of the last of us, followed by clips of the many other exclusives. on to assassin’s creed 3 promo showing what i think is going to be the game of the year; then i would show the new updated incredible dashboard with 100% ps2 backwards compatibility; then explain that the focus is solely on ps3 from hereon out and drop the psp, ps2, move and the vita. show a new device like kinect only 100x better. update hardware making the system sleeker, with perhaps a 4x bluray drive, wireless N and usb 3.0. a show like this i believe would knock the wind out of all their competitors sails.
