Nintendo…Lower the Wii to $99

Nintendo; the jigg is up. We all know that the WiiU is headed to retail this Holiday season and it’s high time you lowered the price of the Nintendo Wii. The Nintendo Wii has its fair share of fantastic titles but it’s time that you guys milked the system for the rest of its life and bring the price of the aging console to the magical price point of $99.99.

The Nintendo Wii has been on life support for much of this year and with only a handful of titles headed to the system, now is prime-time to get that extra sales boost before you release your HD home console.

$99.99 just rolls off the tongue and should be a sweet spot in order to get some sales for the 6 year old, motion controlling console. To say that the Nintendo Wii has been a HUGE success for the company would be a huge understatement and with the system already selling 96+million units worldwide, the console could easily surpass the 100 million mark if Nintendo lowers the price.

As of right now, we are roughly 3 months out of Nintendo launching their next home console and if they lower the price of their current hardware, it could no doubt generate a buzz for their upcoming console. Nintendo Wii titles will play just fine in the WiiU and people who haven’t already picked up the system may finally plop down 100 bucks for good family and friend entertainment.

Nintendo, if you are reading this, LOWER THE PRICE and we can’t wait for WiiU!

What do you guys think? Should Nintendo lower the price of the Wii?

I couldn’t agree more, even though it might sound confusing to quite a few people. Like “Why should I get a Wii if the Wii U is around the corner and is backward compatible?”

Is it naive to think an ideal situation would be a buy back program through Nintendo for people who aren’t concerned with losing their original Wiis? You know, be “green” and all?

I think the $99.99 price point is just a matter of time (of course sooner rather than later), and they should put Wii U adverts inside the packaging. I lament the remodel of Wii that lacks GameCube compatiblity.
I also think that Nintendo needs to have already started with classy and cool marketing (commercials, billboards, etc) for Wii U. Who outside of gaming nerds really knows about the Wii U? Grandma only knows cuz I told her!
    Peace!
