Why the PS4 is Going to Win Next Generation

PS4 with controller and camera-580-90

Something big is about to happen… In a few short weeks Sony is set to unleash their next generation console and it’s going to be HUGE. Not only are gamers eagerly awaiting this new console like the 2nd coming, Sony has been marketing the new Playstation 4 like there is no tomorrow and a lot of people are eager to get their hands on Sony’s latest PS4. The price point of the system seems to be a sweet spot with most gamers and the machine is a beast of a product. With the console launch edging ever so closer to reality, here is why the PS4 is going to win the next generation console war.

Greatness Awaits.

Price Point:

$399 (£349 UK) is a very reasonable price for the next generation Playstation. Sony has seemed to learn their lesson with highly priced consoles and when they announced that the PS4 was going to retail for $399, gamers breathed a sigh of relief due to XBOX One’s $499 price tag. For $399 (£349 UK), gamers are set to get the latest and greatest from Sony and it appears people couldn’t be happier. It’s going to be hard to pass up a brand new Playstation 4, a launch game and another controller for almost the same price of an XBOX One alone. The aggressive price point for Sony’s new hardware is going to help this system tremendously and should attract a lot of gamers early on.

Systems Upon Systems at Launch

Last year, Nintendo released their next generation console, Wii U, but the system has failed to garner a whole lot of ground coming out of the gate. Without a huge lead from Nintendo and Microsoft launching the XBOX One nearly the same time, Sony has stated that they want to produce as many systems as they can so that gamers will be able to get their hands on a PS4 this Holiday season. With talks like this coupled with the insane marketing that Sony has done, the head start that Nintendo has had with the Wii U will likely diminish in mere weeks. There will not be a ton of ground Sony will need to make up and they will come out of the gate very strong in terms of hardware sales. Anytime a new system launches, people will turn out in droves just to get their hands on it and the PS4 will be no different.

Whoever is in charge of marketing at Sony headquarters deserves a HUGE raise. All I have seen for the last 2 months is amazing PS4 commercials and I enjoy each one of them. The commercials are creative, direct and have been embedded in everyone’s minds for the last 2 months. Sony has done a tremendous job on building up the hype for the PS4 and it looks as though they are set to deliver.

Powerful Technology

I love technology and I know I am not alone. I love when my games look and feel real and the PS4 is an absolute beast when it comes to next generation tech. Developers and the gaming community all agree that Sony and XBOX One are powerful machines and deep down, we all love the latest and greatest. With the PS4, Sony is really harnessing the power of the system and allowing developers to do some crazy tricks with their next generation games. It’s crazy to see how far video game systems have come and with the ability to record and share your awesome gaming moments, download full video games while playing the title, talk with your friends and having the ability to play remotely on a PS Vita, the PS4 oozes powerful technology and will be attractive to anyone who lays their eyes on it.

All in all, we seem to be ready to usher in the next generation of home consoles. With PS4 gearing up for its November 15th release (or November 29th if you’re in the UK), it’s hard to see Sony in a desperate spot this time next year.

Stay tuned this week as we will be doing similar articles for XBOX One and Wii U. Thanks for reading.

  1. I gotta say, the marketing for the PS4 is wonderful. You got ad everywhere on TV, flooded my local Walmart…(better than the Wii U’s advertisments…)

  2. Nintendo dropped the ball with the Wii U…it’s pretty much DOA at this point. The next gen belongs to Sony and Microsoft…I think both of them will be pretty much equal next gen…all though I think sony will edge out microsoft slightly.

  3. @Chris. It sure feels that way, but I think and hope that the have a plan for this holiday season. This holiday season is really what matters for Wii U. If they can’t get peoples attention, then I will be very very sad.
