Why The Wii U is The Best Console This Holiday Season

The argument that the Wii U has no games is no longer valid. There was a time when the Wii U just wasn’t compelling enough for gamers due to their lack of must have titles. This holiday season however, the big N has turned things around in a major way and the Wii U’s library is steadily growing with a number of must have titles for the system. With these newly released games along with a promising 2014, the Nintendo Wii U may be your best bet for this holiday season.

Super Mario 3D World, Pikmin 3, The Wonderful 101, Rayman Legends, Call of Duty Ghosts, The Legend of Zelda Wind Waker HD, New Super Mario Bros U, Game and Wario, NintendoLand, Skylander’s Swap Force, Sonic Lost World, Zombi U, Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag, Batman Arkham Origins, Wii Party U, Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director’s Cut, Scribblenauts Unmasked, Resident Evil Revelations, Lego City Undercover, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate and Need for Speed Most Wanted U (that’s a mouth full) have all arrived on Nintendo’s latest home console and have some amazing features specific to the system. We should also keep in mind this impressive list doesn’t include last generations must have Wii games that players may have missed out on as well as the eShop indie titles. The off TV play that the Gamepad has introduced is fantastic and helps differentiate the Wii U among its competitors.

While Sony and Microsoft have recently launched their newest consoles (the PS4 has integrated remote play with PS4 and PS Vita systems but will set you back a pretty penny), the Wii U is finally hitting its stride in terms of must have games and should not go unnoticed in the gaming community. Not only is the Wii U fun to play with friends and family it’s outstanding to play solo as well. The system, although struggling to really gain traction at retail, is well made and offers some of the best features in a video game console. Miiverse is a stunning, online community where gamers can post screenshots, impressions and accomplishments of their gaming sessions and really makes the system stand out as a next generation console.

Players have fallen in love with the off TV play and has allowed portability for a home console as long as you are close to the Wii U console. Next year’s offerings also look to extend the Wii U game library as well with Donkey Kong, Super Smash Bros, X, Yarn Yoshi, Mario Kart 8 and a number of surprises on the way for the system, it’s going to be hard to ignore the Wii U any longer. With it’s innovative features and breadth of games, the Wii U should be a no brainer this holiday season and a must have for your that gamer on your list. While the PS4 and the XBOX One are impressive pieces of hardware, I think that for this Holiday season the Wii U should be on top of your holiday lists.

As always, thanks for reading!
