New Nintendo System to be named Stream?

Project Café may be the code name of Nintendo’s next console but “Stream” is rumored to be one of the names in consideration for its final product. While I have my doubts that Stream will be final, end-all-be-all name of Nintendo’s 6th home console, it does have a ring to it. Nintendo Stream… Seems kind of cool…

Nintendo Wii 2: Price Rumors and specs

The following quotes regarding Nintendo’s next console codenamed Project Cafe are taken from the good guys over at IGN and gives us even more to talk about. Check out some of the quotes from the article.

According to sources with knowledge of the project, Nintendo’s next console could have a retail cost of anywhere between $350 and $400, and will ship from Taiwanese manufacturer, Foxconn, this October, putting the earliest possible retail release anywhere between mid-October and early November.

Additionally, IGN has learned that the system will be based on a revamped version of AMD’s R700 GPU architecture, not AMD’s Fusion technology as previously believed, which will, as previously reported, out perform the PlayStation 3′s NVIDIA 7800GTX-based processor. Like the Xbox 360, the system’s CPU will be a custom-built triple-core IBM PowerPC chipset, but the clocking speeds will be faster. The system will support 1080p output with the potential for stereoscopic 3D as well, though it has not been determined whether that will be a staple feature.

The story also states that the system may resemble a modern day SNES but I have my suspicions about that. More as it develops.

Nintendo Wii 2: Latest news

Mark this coming Monday (April 25th) on your calendars as we may hear some more information regarding Nintendo Wii’s successor, Nintendo Wii 2 (that’s what we are going to call it anyway). Also known as Project Cafe, the system is all but confirmed for a E3 2011 reveal and the gaming public is dying with anticipation regarding Nintendo’s next system.

The reason why I am saying mark Monday, April 25th down on your calendars is because Nintendo is holding an investors meeting that day and I would imagine they would confirm something if the fabled system is to be true. It may be a “hey we have a new console and it’s coming soon” type of announcement but still exciting non-the-less and all eyes will be on E3 2011 for the BIG reveal.

As always, keep it here as we will bring you all the information we know and all the juicy rumors you crave to hear. Thanks for stopping by!

Nintendo Wii 2: Metroid Prime Developer Retro Working On Wii 2 Game

Acclaimed development studio Retro Studios are apparently hard at work creating a brand new title for Nintendo’s forthcoming home console which is currently referred to as Project Cafe.

The development studio behind the Metroid Prime franchise and most recently the superb Donkey Kong Country Returns have told The Paul Gale Network that they’re working on “a project everyone wants us to do.”

I don’t know if I can take all this guys! E3 is right around the corner but the suspense is killing me! I can’t wait to see what Retro Studios is hard at work on and with a quote like “a project everyone wants us to do,” I can only imagine the possibilities.

What would you guys like to see? Metroid Dread? Zelda HD from Retro? Starfox HD?! Let’s hear it!

Wii 2: New Rumors surrounding the system

Following yesterday’s promising news on the “Wii 2″, the rumor mill is in full swing and will continue to run rampant until its (hopefully) inevitable unveiling. Check out the newest rumors below and let us know what you think:

Here’s a Tweet from IGN’s Jim Reilly concerning the Wii successor…

New Nintendo controller allows players to stream entire games to the device from the console – like a miniature television.

This is slightly different from the comment that he shared earlier…

Dual analog sticks on the controller. Can stream game content from the console. Not sure if it’ll be full games, mini-games, or apps.

More rumors:

“The console will include a custom IBM PowerPC CPU with three cores, a GPU from the ATI R700 family with a shader unit at version 4.1, and at least 512Mb of RAM.”

‘Project Café (which the console is being known as) will also include backwards compatibility with both the Wii (including all peripherals) and GameCube games.”

“The controller has a six-inch touch screen, a front-facing camera, D-Pad, two bumpers, two triggers and “possibly more,” and can be used as a Wii sensor bar.”

“Sources now confirm to IGN the new Nintendo controller allows players to stream entire games to the device from the console, saying it’s like a miniature television. The screen size on the controller is also confirmed to be six inches in size.”

I CAN’T take this guys! If any of this stuff pans out to be true (especially the touch screen controller) I don’t know how I will be able to wait for this thing. The touch screen controller has a TON of potential and has got my mind reeling… E3 2011 is right around the corner and we here at gameonnintendo will have the best coverage around so stay tuned!

Wii 2 confirmed for E3 2011?

Numerous industry insiders have been dropping rumors that Nintendo is planning to reveal a brand new HD successor to the Nintendo Wii at this years E3 event in June. Check out all the quotes below regarding the Wii 2:

“Nintendo is doing this one right. It’s not a gimmick like the Wii.”

- An anonymous source

Game Informer’s sources say the console is capable of running games at “HD resolutions,” though it is unclear whether not it will be as powerful as Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Our sources have said the console’s power will be greater than or equal to the PlayStation 3. Nintendo is reportedly showing the console to publishers to garner interest for a late 2012 launch

- IGN

Let’s all remember that it is that time of year when rumors will run rampant but given the recent sales decline and the further penetration of HDTV’s everywhere, it seems like the right move for Nintendo. They have blazed a new trail with the Nintendo Wii introducing the world to motion control, so a brand new console that can capitalize on the enormous success of Nintendo Wii will be a win for everyone in my book. More as it develops.
