Blizzard has announced that the 2nd season for the competitive mode in Overwatch will start on September 6th. The news broke via a Tweet and we couldn’t be more excited. If you are an avid reader of this website, you will already know how much we love Overwatch. While it may come off as “just another FPS,” the game oozes with character and if you have ever checked out the animated shorts, they are truly a thing of beauty. I love hearing more about the characters and their backstories and cannot wait to see what’s in the pipeline for the popular shooter.

Let us know who your favorite character is! Mine is still Tracer although Genji and Bastion are moving up the list as well.

There are some brand new Reinhardt skins headed to Overwatch in the near future. No “official” release date has been given but expect the new skins to hit within the next couple of weeks. Overwatch has become my game of the year for 2016 and I am always excited to hear any news regarding the game. In case you missed the latest animated short for the title, click here and give it a watch. It’s the emotional back story for Bastion and is masterfully done…

Check out the new skins and let us know what you think.

The good guys from Playstation Access recently sat down with Super Stardust Ultra for PSVR and they were kind enough to record the gameplay session. Check out the 9 minute video above and be sure to let us know what you think.

VR is going to play a huge role in Sony’s holiday season so I will be very interested to see how things turn out. I am sure intrigued by the device…

It’s here! The new animated short for Overwatch. This one showcases everyone’s hero they love to hate, Bastion. In case you missed previous animated shorts, you are truly missing out. These Overwatch animated shorts are some of the best video’s made and you owe it to yourself to check it out. It tells the stories of the heroes perfectly and it really gets you into the characters.

If you have some time (and you really don’t need that much) check it out and let me know what you think. Enjoy…And if you like Overwatch, be sure to watch me live stream the game or check out my YouTube playlist.

An all new trailer for the platforming title Yooka-Laylee has been released, so be sure to check it out above. Yooka-Laylee is hoping to bring back some classic platforming gameplay to PS4, XBOX One and Wii U (and presumably NX) in 2017 and things are shaping up rather nicely. Team17, founded in 1990, are a fully independent Video Game Developer and Games Label, responsible for the Worms™ series, Beyond Eyes, Sheltered and many more.

Take a look at the new trailer and let us know what you all think. I love the use of color in the art style and I am praying that the game plays as good as it looks. Look for this one next year.

Revealed at gamescom 2016, Eichenwalde is an Assault/Escort hybrid map set in an abandoned village on the outskirts of Stuttgart, Germany.

The site of one of the most famous battles during the Omnic Crisis, it was here that the leader of the Crusaders, Balderich von Alder, and a handful of his best soldiers made a last stand against an advancing automaton army. Outnumbered and outgunned, they were ultimately slain during the resulting combat. However, thanks to their valiant efforts, the German military was able to push back the omnic offensive and win the fight.

On this map, one team must escort a battering ram to Eichenwalde Castle to reclaim Balderich’s remains from their current resting place, while the opposing team does everything in its power to thwart the keep from being breached.

I can almost see my Genji running wild in this newly revealed map!!! What do you guys think?

My favorite game this year is getting some big changes so check it out in the video above. Yes my friends, season 2 for Overwatch is incoming and you can check out the video, in its entirety, above. Game director Jeff Kaplan details some of the big changes coming to Season 2 of Competitive Play next month. I am overall excited as I have been in love with the game ever since I purchased it. Matter of fact, be sure you follow me on Twitch for some awesome Overwatch live streams or check out my Overwatch playlist on YouTube.

PS4 Version 4.0 Update Information

The Playstation 4 is getting updated to version 4.0 very soon and Sony took the time today to detail what we can expect on the PS Blog. Check out the full rundown of the improvements below:

UI Refresh

We’ve made a lot of adjustments and improvements to PS4’s main user interface. That includes some changes you may notice right away, like new system backgrounds and a revised What’s New tab, to smaller changes like updated popup notifications and redesigned system icons. As a whole, it all adds up to a more refined and easy to use UI. The overall look and feel of the UI remains the same — it just has a fresh coat of paint.

Quick Menu

As you know, pressing and holding the PS button on your DualShock 4 brings up the Quick Menu. We’ve overhauled this menu to make it faster and easier to use. One big change is that the menu now only covers a portion of the screen, meaning you don’t need to leave gameplay entirely.

We’ve added several new items to the Quick Menu, letting you quickly get info without having to back to the home screen. You can see the online status of your friends, and shortcuts to quickly access your Party, Favorite Groups, Communities, and more. You can also customize the Quick Menu, removing or adding items as you see fit.
Share Menu

We’ve given a similar overhaul to the Share Menu, which appears once you press the Share button on your DualShock 4. Like the Quick Menu, it only covers a portion of the screen. It will save the last social network you shared video clips or screenshots to, making the process of sharing a screenshot or video a bit faster and more streamlined.
You can also upload longer video clips to Twitter (was 10 seconds, now up to 140 seconds).

Folders and Library Organization

One of the big requests we get is for more options to organize content on PS4. With this update, we’re adding functionality to create folders on PS4’s content launcher and Library. This will help collect your favorite games and select apps in one place for quick and easy access.

We’re also making some pretty big changes to the Library. We’ve added a new tab called Purchased, which will show all of the content you own — games, applications, demos, and betas you’ve participated in. As a result, the Games and Applications tabs focus on content currently installed on your system. This should help de-clutter your library, and make it faster to find the content you’re looking for.

There are some new sorting tools for your Library as well. You’ll be able to sort content by purchase date or install status, and search for specific games and apps via text input.

Trophy Improvements

This update brings the ability to view the Trophy offline. You’ll see a new “offline mode” option if your system is unable to connect to the network, letting you view your entire Trophy collection without an Internet connection.

We’ve also added a button that will let you view the content of a Hidden Trophy. The Trophy will still be hidden by default, but you can now choose to show the Trophy name and info.

Lastly, we’re changing the icons that show how rare a Trophy is. Instead of four boxes that fill, the icon looks like a pyramid with the ultra-rare Trophies at the top.
User Profile

We’ve updated the look of the User Profile, making it easier to see relevant info for a player at-a-glance. For instance, you can now see your Trophy progress compared with another player right from their profile. You can also add a background image to your own profile — perhaps a screenshot you took in one of your favorite games.

The update has even more features that won’t be available in the beta, so stay tuned for additional info on what to expect. We’ll be back with more info on 4.00, including its launch date, in the coming weeks.
