News for PSVR Sales have been released and the company has stated that the hardware has sold through 915K units. In an official statement (found below), Sony shared the exciting news and we hope to hear more about what’s coming to the hardware at this year’s E3. Check out the official press release here:
Tokyo, February 27, 2017 –Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) today announced that PlayStation®VR (PS VR), a virtual reality system for PlayStation®4 (PS4®), has cumulatively sold through 915,000*1 worldwide as of February 19, 2017.
“Since its October launch, PS VR continues to be well received by people around the world thanks to the high quality, revolutionary VR experience it offers. With more than 53.4million*2 PS4 units sold through globally we firmly believe PlayStation VR will take the lead position in the VR market” said Andrew House, President and Global CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment. “We are increasing production to meet demand and will continuously support content developers as they create innovative VR experiences that are only possible on PlayStation.”
The number of PS VR software titles and experiences reached more than 100 globally as of February 19, 2017, and the number of developers and publishers has increased to more than 360, ranging from smaller independent teams to the industry’s top publishers as well as a range of entertainment companies across movies and music. Currently there are more than 220 software titles and content in development for PS VR with highly anticipated launches on their way, including ACE COMBAT 7 (BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Inc.), FINAL FANTASY XV (SQUARE ENIX CO., LTD.), STEEL COMBAT (COLOPL, Inc.), TEKKEN 7 (BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Inc.), Farpoint, Gran Turismo Sport (SIE WWS) in addition to video content. By the end of 2017, over 100 new software titles and experiences are expected to be released.
1 million copies have already been sold for the newly released PS4 exclusive, Nioh. The game has received a ton of praise in the way of reviews and the title looks to be setting the retail shelves on fire. I have yet to play the game, but that won’t stop me. Nioh has also been kind of hard to find at retail so if you see a copy, make sure you pick one up. As a thank you to players, a special suit of armor will be released with the next patch. Take a look at the armor below!
It has been announced that this year’s big E3 show will be open to the public. An allotment of 15,000 tickets will be made available for anyone to buy on February 13th. The tickets are priced at $250, but an early bird discount that begins on February 13th means that they will only cost $150 for the time being. There will be consumer passes, media passes, and industry passes. The tickets give attendees access to the show floor, panel discussions, and other events. Sounds pretty nifty (and pricey) to us.
E3 2017 takes place from June 13-15th. What do you guys think?
One of the latest games that have released for PS4 is a little game called Nioh. Apparently the game is REALLY good too! Check out this new accolades trailer and try to tell me this doesn’t excite you.
Check it out and enjoy. Nioh is available now for PS4.
Don’t look now but February’s PS Plus games are now live. Players who have a PS Plus membership (which typically runs you $60) are now able to download these titles for free. I am thrilled at this month’s lineup and cannot wait to download all the games. This seems like a pretty nifty lineup of games so I am certain we will be playing these games in the near future.
